His training spans both the UK and renowned eye hospitals, including the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He holds certification as a Consultant in the UK and boasts an impressive 8-year tenure at Moorfields UAE, earning recognition in the field of Ophthalmology.
Currently serving as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Mohammed Bin Rashid University in Dubai Healthcare City, UAE, Dr. Mustafa actively engages in educating medical students. His comprehensive training encompasses General Ophthalmology, with a focus on fellowship training in Adult and Paediatric Glaucoma at Manchester University Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK, under the guidance of esteemed clinicians within the Glaucoma community.
Dr. Mohamad excels in diagnosing glaucoma at its earliest stages, employing cutting-edge diagnostic techniques such as Visual Field Analysis, Ocular Coherence Tomography, Goldman Applanation Tonometry, and Corneal Mapping Parameters. He possesses the expertise to treat complex and advanced glaucoma using the latest surgical methods, including Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgical devices, Trabectome, Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty, Micro-cyclophotocoagulation, Glaucoma drainage devices,
and Trabeculectomy. As an experienced Cataract surgeon, particularly in patients with Glaucoma, he brings his surgical skills to this aspect of his practice.
Dr. Sohaib brings a wealth of experience to the field as an adept Cataract Surgeon. He skillfully conducts intricate cataract procedures, offering premium Intraocular Lens (IOL) choices to a diverse range of patients, including those with Glaucoma and without.
Beyond his expertise in Advanced Glaucoma and Cataract care, Dr. Mohamad has garnered significant experience in managing Diabetic Retinopathy and Medical Retina conditions. He holds memberships in the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London and has achieved fellowships from both European and United Kingdom boards in Ophthalmology.
Actively involved in the Emirates Society of Ophthalmology, Dr. Mohamad plays a key role in organizing the Glaucoma program for their annual meetings. His primary research interests revolve around the compliance and safety of glaucoma medications, as well as the efficacy and safety outcomes of the latest surgical techniques in glaucoma, including microdrainage
devices. He is also engaged in the teaching of cataract surgery and ocular ultrasound through simulation methods. Dr. Mohamad’s extensive research contributions have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international and national conferences.
