About Dr Dario
Dr. Dario A. Victoria is from Cali, Colombia. He graduated from Universidad del Valle, Colombia in 2002, and completed his medical Internship at the same university. After graduating, he was admitted in 2003 with an academic scholarship, in the Ophthalmology residency program of Instituto Barraquer de America, Bogota, Colombia, where he served as Chief Resident for two years and Resident tutor after graduating. In 2009, Dr. Dario was selected by Fundacion Carolina-Spain, among hundreds of applicants from Latinamerica, for a granted Official Master in Immunology and Ocular Surface in IOBA, University of Valladolid, Spain. He obtained his Master with honors for his research project entitled ‘In vivo confocal microscopy of the normal sclerocorneal limbus and the one affected by limbal stem cell deficiency syndrome’.
Dr. Dario has provided comprehensive ophthalmology care and is specialized in the areas of Ocular surface and Ocular immunology as well, which implies the study and treatment of a wide variety of ocular inflammatory conditions such as episcleritis, scleritis, uveitis, immune keratitis and ocular surface inflammatory diseases, as severe keratoconjunctivitis sicca (Sjogren syndrome). He also has experience in ophthalmic microsurgery, particularly in cataract surgery, treatment of ocular surface diseases with amniotic membrane transplantation, autologous serum and ex vivo limbal stem cell transplants.
He has participated as an attendee and speaker at international ophthalmology conferences in Colombia, Europe and United States of America.
Today, Dr. Dario is part of the professional team at MELC, under the guidance of the Medical Director, Dr. Maria Clara Arbeláez. He is has been developing clinical research focused in topics as Keratoconus, Dry Eye Syndrome and Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency Syndrome.
